Teaching Ideas

Idea 1

Create 7 murals for each day of creation.

  • Watch the video all the way through.

  • Then watch the video again, this time stop at each of the days.  Figure out what was created on each day and write it down at the top of a piece of mural paper.

  • Lay each of the pieces of paper on the floor, supply some markers and ask the kids to choose which mural they would like to work on.  Let them create a mural that will represent the day.

Idea 2

God Made Me Crafts

  • Here are a number of crafts from Danielle’s place.

Idea 3

Tell the creation story in your own words.

  • As you tell the story, ask a few of the kids to be the different things that were created on that day.  Someone can be the sun, another person can be a tree, another can be a fish and pretend to be swimming around.

  • The end project should be a little bit of chaos with each kid acting out a different part of creation.

Idea 4

God takes care of us.

  • Have a discussion with the kids.

  • Talk about how God created the whole world and everything in it.  Ask the kids if they can name their favourite part of creation.

  • Talk about how God takes care of everything that he made.

  • He takes care of us, the animals, the earth.

Idea 5

God made me and you

  • Have a discussion with the kids.

  • Ask them to jump up and down if they have eyes.

  • Scratch their head if they have hair.

  • Wave their arms if they have them.

  • Talk about how God made us, and he made us good.

Idea 6

Have a contest of who can hold their breath the longest.

  • After the contest talk with the kids about how God made everything and how he takes care of us, even down to the air we breath.
