Teaching Ideas
Idea 1
Have a water relay race with the kids. (go outside for this part of the lesson)
Divide the group into 3 teams and have them at one end of an open area.
Place a watering bowl at the opposite side of each team. When you say go, the first person in each team needs to take a cup, go to the big bucket, fill the cup with water and race down to their watering bowl, drop the water off and run back.
They will then hand their cup off to the next person who will do the same thing. The race continues until one team has their watering bowl overflowing.
Use this activity to talk about Rebekah watering the camels of the servant.
Idea 2
Read "A Wife for Isaac" on page 60 in The Beginner's Bible by Zondervan
Questions:
Why did Abraham send his servant to find a wife for Isaac?
How did the servant know that Rebekah was the right person for Isaac?
What did Rebekah do that showed she was kind and helpful?
How did Isaac feel when he met Rebekah, and what can we learn from this story about trusting God’s plan?
Idea 3
Create the scene where the servant meets Rebekah.
Give each kid a blank piece of paper and 4 seperate pictures of a camel, a well, Rebekah and the servant.
Ask each kid to recreate the scene where Rebekah meets the servant.
Have some scissors, glue, markers or crayons available for the kids to use.
Idea 4
Read "A Wife for Isaac" on page 56 in The Action Bible by Sergio Cariello
Questions:
Why did Abraham’s servant go on a journey to find a wife for Isaac?
How did the servant know that Rebekah was the one for Isaac?
What can we learn about Rebekah’s character from how she treated the servant?
How did God answer the servant’s prayer in finding a wife for Isaac?
Idea 5
Talk to the kids about God providing for us.
Ask the kids if they have any stories where God has provided for them? Has God helped them in any way? Have they prayed about something and then they have seen God provide?
Share a story from your own life of when God provided for you.
