Idea 1
Make a sling shot. Watch this video to learn how. You will need 2 pieces of rope and some cloth or old leather.
Idea 2
Read “The Young Hero and The Horrible Giant” on page 122 of The Jesus Storybook Bible.
As you read the story ask these questions
Who was the Philistines’ secret weapon?
What did Goliath call God’s people?
Who is David? Who is Goliath?
What did David use in battle?
Who always wins the battle?
Who is the greatest Hero?
Idea 3
Play pin the stone on Goliath.
Give each of the kids a paper stone that has tape on it.
Tape a picture of Goliath on the wall and blind fold the kids one at a time.
Let the kids come up to the picture of Goliath and let them try to stick the stone on his head while blindfolded.
Idea 4
Why did David think that Goliath would die?
Ask the kids why they think David was so sure that Goliath would die?
Read 1 Samuel 17:45-48 to the kids.
Read it through verse by verse and see if you can figure out as a group what it all means.

Read "David and the Giant" on page 173 The Beginner's Bible by Zondervan
Questions:
What kind of weapons did David bring to fight Goliath? Why do you think he chose them?
How did David’s faith in God make him brave enough to fight Goliath?
How do you think the Israelites felt when David defeated Goliath?
What can we learn about trusting God when we face something scary?
Idea 6
Give each of the kids a stone and ask them to write something on the rock.
An example of something they could write would be, God wins, trust in God, God is strong etc.
Idea 7
Share with the kids an example in your life where you had to deal with a Goliath, it could be a bully, standing up for what is right, etc.
Idea 8
Show the kids this video. Then show it to them again.
